Overview:

educational technology classified by category - portable to static, and personal to shared

By now you should realize that when planning your training structure there are many things to consider. We have discussed several of these – audience, room set-up, learning styles, and more. In this lesson we explore some of the various technology options we have to choose from, and how we determine what we will use throughout our training.

It is easy to get “stuck” into our favorite go-to’s, but mixing things up can energize not only our learners, but us as trainers. Don’t be afraid to try something new. In this lesson we share what we have learned,. and hopefully pick up some new ideas from you as well!

“Education used to be simple: there was a blackboard, a teacher, and desks in a classroom. Today, a student can practice English online, upload homework through a portal and learn chemistry through 3D immersion — such is the rise of educational technologies”

An Introduction to Gamification

One of the newest “trends” seen in training / education is something known as “gamification”. What is gamification? How can you use it? Take some time to listen to this presentation from Sententia, one of the leaders in instructing trainers in gamification. They also offer a tiered system of certification for trainers in this area, as well as a weekly online gathering for trainers interested in honing their craft, ” Friday Night Game Garage “.  We encourage you to check out their resources and offerings.

CONSIDER:   💭

Think about your Final Project. Use this as an opportunity to plan for Parts 3 & 4 of the project which you will be submitting at the end of this module.

  • What types of technology will you want to incorporate into this curriculum?
  • Are there any elements of Gamification that would be useful for the content you are presenting?
